The Ballet Workout Vol. 1: Shaping & Toning
Do you want a fitness program that builds long, lithe muscles and graceful, healthy posture? In The Ballet Workout, a program with longstanding popularity, instructor Melissa Lowe presents two separate workouts: one for beginners and one for dancers with previous experience. Designed to boost flexibility, strength, and balance, this workout could also serve as a basic introduction to the art of ballet. Also check out The Ballet Workout II and The New Ballet Workout.
Discover the joy of movement and the beauty of dance with the first program in this series by Instructor Melissa Lowe. The elegant way to achieve the body you want, attain the look and grace of a professional dancer and enjoy a healthier lifestyle. Perfect for all ages, this workout will help you condition, reshape and tone your body. This workout will not only help you create the body you have always wanted, but also will help you gain an overall sense of well being. This workout has been divided into two levels. Level I is designed for those with little or no previous ballet experience. Previous ballet experience is helpful but not necessary for level II. Success on both workout levels lies in performing the exercises in the correct position and with the correct posture. The same amount of time spent on ballet exercises as spent on more traditional forms of exercise will produce dramatically different results in shaping your body.

The Ballet Workout Vol. 2: Strength and Conditioning
Professor of Dance Melissa Lowe leads The Ballet Workout II for slightly more experienced students. Beginning with warm-up exercises, then moving to the barre, Lowe demonstrates classic ballet moves. Her class concludes with floor work. Though included in the exercise video category, this sequel is not marketed for the aerobic crowd. Lowe's techniques are meant for those with a serious interest in ballet. The production value is in line with a workout release, featuring live piano music. With concentration on turn-out and extensions, The Ballet Workout challenges the at-home pupil. Lowe's instruction is recommended for the intermediate dancer.
